Meet the Artist

Clint’s Biography- painting

I started painting around 2011. I had a strong desire to recreate my favorite outdoor experiences in the form of paintings. I bought some paint and a canvas and found that it was a lot more difficult than I thought it would be! But I persevered, practiced a lot, developed a process that worked for me, and gradually improved.

Clint’s Biography- hunting and fishing

A Southern California native, born in the late sixties. As a kid, my mom would drive me and my childhood friend, Paul, to Puddingstone Reservoir to go trout fishing as often as possible- we were both hooked at an early age. Then somehow, at around the age of thirteen, we got introduced to fly fishing and tying our own flies. Our new destination became the west fork of the San Gabriel River, and wild rainbows became the new quarry. We’ve been hooked for life.

There was also a creek nearby where Dave and Mosa, my childhood friends, and I would hunt rabbits, squirrels, band-tailed pigeons, doves, and maybe one quail with our scoped .177 caliber pellet guns. How I managed to get a pellet gun I can’t remember, but it helped stoke a desire to hunt that was as strong as the desire to fish.  If you are wondering how a Southern California kid with a family that doesn’t hunt or fish gets hooked on both, that is a very good question. But hooked I got and stayed. At a Rams game tailgate in 1982, my dad’s CPA brought up quail hunting in Arizona, and my ears immediately perked.

He wrote down what shotgun to buy and soon I had a 20 gauge 870 Remington Wingmaster, and a memory I would never forget. My friend James and I hunted all through high school, we cut our teeth at Bell Mountain hunting jackrabbits, doves, and even bumped a covey of chukar. We moved on to quail, ducks, and pretty much anything that flew. Since then, there have been upland hunts to Idaho with Vic, Yuma dove hunts with Mosa and my daughter Sidney, elk hunts with Joe and the Texans in Colorado, and fly fishing all over for everything that swims. The camaraderie amongst sportsmen whether it be at spey camp for steelhead, dove camp in the sweltering desert, or elk camp in the mountains is something very, very special that I look forward to all year long!
